A better recommendation would be to read a couple of books on whatever game you're going to be starting to play. Super System and Super System 2 are good starts, any book by David Sklansky is great reading, as well (albeit a bit dry). Getting the basics in poker theory will help you out great when starting out.

After a while, you'll see what hands are playable, what are garbage, and get the feel of the game in order to make good bets and even better bluffs.

- Blinds are forced bets by 2 players strictly to generate betting. Going clockwise around the table, you have the dealer (or "the button"), then small blind, then big blind. Player to left of big blind acts first....goes around to the dealer spot, then the blinds.

Once betting is done and a flop (3 community cards) is dealt, betting starts with the first player left of the dealer who's still in the hand. Same goes after the turn (or 4th street) and the river (or 5th street).
